In 2019, it dawned on us that our national anthem was still the same as before the revolution. This anthem still showed the very patriarchal and oppressive values we fought to get away from. Realising that our current Czechovalian identity needs to be represented in all cultural and political aspects of life, a new anthem is called for. And what better way to represent the people’s identity than having the people create and vote for the new anthem in a contest?

This is why a special contest has been created: Czechovalia Seeks Anthem.The contest is a singing and songwriting competition to find a new national anthem for Czechovalia. 

​

Just like X Factor, people will be able to come audition with their song in a big stadium in front of judges and a crowd. Four judges will decide who advances in the competition. Each judge will have a button they can push if they truly dislike the contestant and want the singing to instantly stop. Twenty acts will go on to the four elimination rounds, so the judges need to be very selective with who they allow to stay. In the finale, four singers will be left in the competition and the audience gets the last vote. The Supreme Leader will be present at the finale.

Auditions start May 10th and the finale will take place June 7th. The contest will air live on channel 1. Visit channelone.cz to apply for an audition (registration is now closed).

Besides national honor, the winner also gets to represent Czechovalia in UBN’s Got Talent 2019.
